Winestyr Review

The Big Basin Vineyards 2017 Homestead is a delicious and eclectic blend of 52% Grenache, 23% Carignan, 20% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre. Forward and direct, the wine flashes beautifully ripe cherries and pomegranate before layers of soft, herbal undertones fill out the finish. This is the kind of bottle everyone, and we mean everyone, should never be without.

Big Basin Vineyards

Big Basin's first estate vineyard sits high in the Santa Cruz Mountains, surrounded by the agave plants and quince, plum, and walnut trees that still remain from when the land was first homesteaded in the 1880s. Planted in 1998 by owner and winemaker Bradley Brown, the winery's first release came in 2002. Nearly 20 years later, Big Basin has ascended to become one of the critical darlings of the Santa Cruz and Gabilan Mountains.
