Winestyr Review

The back label of this wine states that this wine is a collaboration between William Hunter and the Cleary and Dutton families as the vineyard is owne by the Cleary family, farmed by the Dutton family, and the wine is made by Bill Hunter. This is another intensely unique wine from Chasseur. At once bold and elegant, the wine has a way of taking you straight to the West County where the vineyard resides. This wine is pure and varietally true (like Chasseur's other wines) but this wine, in particular, seems to really scream the rugged Sonoma Coast. Great acid, restrained and elegant fruit counterbalance notes of pepper and smoke resulting in a very elegant, sophisticated, and almost forlorn wine.

Chasseur Wines

Chasseur (French for "Hunter") is dedicated to small lot, hand-crafted wines in the old French tradition with emphasis on vineyard designates. Their small size (about 2,700 cases per year) allows complete control over the winemaking process, enabling them to produce the finest wines the fruit has to offer. They are in an obsessive pursuit of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay's final, and possibly finest, frontier - Sonoma's "West County". Still in its renaissance, this area is composed of the western edge of the Russian River Valley and beyond, known as the "true" Sonoma Coast. The wines are as expressive as they are stunning. Burgundy lovers won't want to miss Chasseur.
