The fruit for our 2016 Cabernet Franc came from a hillside slope in Bennett Vineyard in Coombsville. The wine has a nice rich color with a highly aromatic nose featuring dark berry and cassis. The palate is rich with dense tannins and a long finish with cherry and a hint of white pepper. While this wine drinks beautifully now it will continue to improve over the next decade.
With the 2005 purchase of their first estate vineyard, Coquerel Family Wine Estates began producing exceptional Napa Valley red and white wines under the guiding hand of winemaker Christine Barbe, who earned her Ph.D in 1996 from the Bordeaux Institute of Enology. The winery is located just beyond the town of Calistoga at the north end of the Napa Valley and the heart and soul of Coquerel Wines is their estate “Walnut Wash” vineyard, a gorgeous, oak-studded property that sits in the afternoon shadows of the Mayacamas Mountains. Pure, crisp whites and powerful, yet sophisticated, reds have become their hallmark; a true melding of Napa Valley intensity and French elegance.
