The highly coveted fruit that went into the Gros Ventre Cerise Vineyard Pinot Noir is only sold to a handful of select producers. Sitting high above the Anderson Valley floor, this rocky, wind and fog-swept vineyard produces exceptional fruit that is unlike any other surrounding regions. This wine is elegant yet complex with intense red fruit and earthy aromas. Light tannins and mouthwatering acidity create a wine that is reminiscent of a red Burgundy, with it's own California flair. Fermented with wild yeast. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. Aged for 11 months in 9% new French oak. 181 cases produced.
Gros Ventre winemaker, Chris Pittenger, has the kind of pedigree that should attract any kind of wine enthusiast to try, and ultimately fall in love with, his wines. Heading the winemaking at classic projects like Skinner Vineyards and Limerick Lane helped establish Chris in his place as a bit of a “whisperer” to grapes like Zinfandel and vineyards near Skinner’s outpost in the Sierra Foothills. Of course, he’s also shown a tremendous touch with Pinot Noir, sourced from some of the most celebrated sites in Sonoma and Anderson Valley.
