This collaboration between winemaker John House (Ovum, Chehalem) and Sommelier Ryan Arnold, has resulted in one of the best values I've come across when it comes to Oregon Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley AVA. Medium-bodied, with ripe red cherry, cola, and cinnamon notes to go with great structure and mouthwatering acidity, this wine drinks a few price points above its price. A real crowdpleaser and an unbeatable value. 1,500 cases produced.
John Ryan Wines is a collaboration between John House of Oregon's Riesling-focused (and highly critically acclaimed) Ovum Wines, and Chicago-based Sommelier Ryan Arnold who serves as wine director for Lettuce Entertain You's plethora of restaurants. Ryan sought a balanced, approachable Oregon Pinot Noir in a style that would be perfect for the wine lists at his restaurants and when he couldn't find a perfect fit, he decided to create his own. He looked to John House who was a winemaker at Chehalem before starting his Ovum project. These wines represent an unbeatable value for great, food-friendly Oregon wines.
