This is probably my favorite vintage yet of this interesting red made by Morgan Twain-Peterson of Bedrock fame. A Northern Rhone style blend of 85% Syrah, 6% Carignan, 3% Mourvedre, 2% Petite Sirah and 4% Viognier, this wine is lush with meaty flavors of bacon fat and game to go along with bold fruit and some old world funk. This wine is different and that's what makes it so interesting. 700 cases produced.
Lacuna means "an unfilled space or interval" and the wine veterans behind this collaborative venture saw that gap in American winemaking and are closing it. They currently focus on one wine - a super-complex, Rhone-style red blend composed of Syrah, Petite Sirah, Carignan, Zinfandel, and Viognier made by up-and-coming wine superstar, Morgan Twain-Peterson. This is truly one of the most interesting wines we've tasted and we believe that Lacuna is on the forefront of what the next generation of American wine is all about - smart, complex, nuanced wines that trade power for sophistication.
