To craft Jerome Reserve, Lemelson selects the best 20 barrels of the vintage to assemble a truly representative blend. The wine showcases a depth of ripe red cherry and pomegranate, with a rich texture outlined by toasty oak and baking spices. While this is certainly a wine that will improve with time and withstand extended cellaring, it is by no means required. This is ready to go immediately and should be paired with refined cuisine and intimate gatherings. 93 pts Vinous
Eric Lemelson started Lemelson Vineyards with the long view in mind, first planting vines in 1995 before investing in another 30 acres just two years later. With the release of the estate's inaugural vintage in 2001, Lemelson announced its arrival to the masses. The winery sits just a few minutes east of Carlton, the kind of sleepy wine country town that makes all of us consider packing up our lives and starting over there.
