We first tasted this wine out of barrel at the winery and it was like fireworks and rainbows. This is evocative of the classic, 1970s era Napa Valley style of just ripe black fruits, savory earth tones, and a palate coating but not overly extracted texture. The wine spent two years in neutral barrel and an additional year in bottle before release, we've been waiting a long time for this and thrilled it's finally here!
Diego and Shaunt have one of the most unique winery setups in the country, if not the world. Tucked into the hills above Orinda, which is just a few minutes outside of Oakland, this duo crafts their flagship natural wines in the raised basement of Shaunt’s family home. That’s right, they lifted the house to make sure the cellar (er...basement) had room for their barrel stacks. It’s a true bootstrap operation but one that has yielded incredible wines beloved by natural wine enthusiasts.
