While it might not be the most complex wine in the world, this is a great example of domestic Malbec. Good structure and mouthfeel combined with intense cassis, dark berry flavors, and well integrated oak, make this wine a great value. Aged for 18 months in 50% new French oak. 100% Malbec. 280 cases produced.
Lucas & Lewellen is a family owned and operated winery in Santa Barbara County.
Louis Lucas, a third generation grape grower, and Superior Court Judge Royce Lewellen formed a partnership in 1996. With three diverse, high quality vineyards in Santa Barbara County they have been producing distinct wines of exceptional quality and value ever since. As the owners once said, "From the beginning, we set our sights on doing nothing that we couldn't be proud of. Today, I am pleased to say that I am proud of Lucas & Lewellen Vineyards, from the grapes, to the wines, to the staff of exceptional people who make it all happen. But, as we like to say: You ain't seen nothin' yet! The best is still to come."More from this winery
Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself.
