Manchester Ridge sits at a 2,000 foot elevation above Anderson Valley. The vineyard is 400 feet above the fog line. The Chardonnay is picked early and pressed straight to French oak barrels. Bottled after 18 months, the wine is bright with floral notes and quite a bit of salinity. Despite being floral and refreshing, it lacks nothing in the way of complexity and sophistication.
After being inspired by the wines she tasted in Burgundy and Champagne, Samantha set out on her own. The goal is not to replicate Burgundy, but rather create alluring, vineyard specific, age-worthy wines revealing the beautiful terroir of California. There is minimal intervention, judicious use of sulfur, and never any additives in the winemaking process. Each wine is made in very limited quantities, and sold directly from the winery and to high-end restaurants around the country. Ultraviolet is a relatively new project setting out to celebrate classic grapes made in throw-back styles to offer enticing and affordable examples to new wine drinkers.
