The 2017 Rosé of Pinot Noir was harvested at a cool 21° Brix and immediately whole cluster pressed, crafted in true vin gris style, fermented like a white wine without skin or seed contact. This enticingly aromatic wine is bone dry, delicate in structure, with racy acidity, and 12.9% alcohol. Aged for 3 months in 100% neutral oak. 5,000 cases produced.
At Red Car, we believe that we are stewards of the land – dedicated to being environmentally and socially responsible to our community. To us, sustainability goes beyond farming practices in our vineyards; it's who we are. Our values reflect those of a limited-production winery and small team inspired by the topography and environment where we grow our cool-climate wines. We appreciate that our wines speak directly from the soil and maritime climate and with that, we find it our mission to be environmentally and socially aware.
Red Car was first imagined during a trip to the coastal mountains of western Sonoma County. There was a clear sense that this was the place where Red Car should settle, a place to call home. That morning’s sights and smells of the Pacific fog mixing with the giant redwoods as the sunshine pushed it back out to sea inspired in the founders a harmony with nature. They felt connected to the hum of the land and couldn’t wait to express its uniqueness in their wines. The inaugural vintage for Red Car was 2000 and since then they have achieved soaring heights for their stunning cool weather wines. The winery name is a tribute to trolley cars that serviced Los Angeles through the first half of the 20th century. It serves as a reminder of the founders' original connection to the City of Angels, the place that inspired them to dream.More from this winery
Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself.
