A perennial Winestyr favorite, the 2011 vintage of the Rocky Hill proprietary red, from the famed Richard Dinner vineyard in the Sonoma Mountain AVA, does not disappoint. As with past vintages, this wine is rich and sophisticated without being overpowering. A great food wine, the blend for this vintage contains equal parts of Merlot, Malbec, and Syrah. Beautiful and somewhat restrained fruit, great structure, dusty tannins, and well-integrated oak, come together to form what might be my favorite vintage of this wine to date. 33% Merlot, 33% Malbec, 33% Syrah. 600 cases produced.
Located on beautiful Sonoma Mountain, Rocky Hill Farm has been enjoyed and cared for by four generations. It is a magical place covered with magnificent oak trees scattered along a pristine hillside with a rugged and rocky terrain. Rocky Hill has set out to create approachable wines with structure and balance, not overpowered by oak, without overwhelming fruit, and that serve as a compliment to a well-prepared meal. Their 2008 Proprietary Red Blend is simply stunning.
