Pouring this into your glass, check out the purity and transparency of this wine's color! A wine's color concentration doesn't always directly foreshadow its flavor on the palate but this wine is just as elegant, spry, and light as it looks. Juicy and floral, this is a truly light-bodied Pinot Noir with plenty of complexity thanks to the mineral tones of the finish. 1,300 cases produced. 93pts and Editor's Choice from Wine Enthusiast.
As if it was fate all along, I somehow kept bumping into the wines over and over again over the course of my career. Mikey launched Scar of the Sea on the idea that Santa Maria Valley, situated between San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara, offered an extraordinarily diverse and unique terroir. When the brand was introduced in the early 2010s, California was at the height of its reinvention and its wines came to define the kind of balance and expressiveness we now expect from the region's Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah. In February of 2020, Giugni assumed control over the entirety of the winery's production and the future looks as promising as ever.
