I love this style of Zinfandel because it's lower in extraction and alcohol than some of the big fruit bombs out there - and more true to the wines of the past. Medium body and some elegant fruit give way to some beautiful earthy and spicy notes all the way through the finish. A very well balanced wine.
Scott Harvey is one of Amador County's pioneers and has been producing incredibly drinkable expressions of Barbera, Syrah, and Zinfandel under his label Scott Harvey Wines. Before that, he was a partner, winemaker, and president of Napa's Folie A Deux winery where he created the Menage a Trois line of wines. Scott splits his time between his home and vineyard in Napa Valley and Amador County where he works with some of the oldest growers. These are wines that go perfectly with a variety of foods - specifically grilled meats.
