I love this Syrah for two reasons. First, the wine is nuanced, layered, smooth, complex, and balanced with just enough earth, fruit, and spice - everything you look for in good Syrah. Second, the price makes this a wine that you can drink regularly without breaking the bank. Another great example of the potential of Amador County Syrah - and one of my personal favorite wines.
Scott Harvey is one of Amador County's pioneers and has been producing incredibly drinkable expressions of Barbera, Syrah, and Zinfandel under his label Scott Harvey Wines. Before that, he was a partner, winemaker, and president of Napa's Folie A Deux winery where he created the Menage a Trois line of wines. Scott splits his time between his home and vineyard in Napa Valley and Amador County where he works with some of the oldest growers. These are wines that go perfectly with a variety of foods - specifically grilled meats.
