Winestyr Review

This natural Syrah hails from the 3-acre, organically-farmed deLanda vineyard in California's Santa Ynez Valley AVA. Pure and somewhat rustic, this wine leads with dark fruit flavors, but has a savory, earthy backbone and great structure which make it exceptionally enjoyable. This is a great wine to pair with a variety of dishes - from stews to grilled meats - and is equally enjoyable on its own. Aged for 18 months in French oak. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, with no additives except for a minimal amounts of SO2. 300 cases produced.

What We Love

  • Natural wine
  • Pure, yet rustic
  • Santa Ynez Valley AVA

This natural Syrah is great to pair with a variety of foods, but is equally enjoyable on its own.

Anna and David enjoy spending most of their time at their vineyard in Los Olivos with their new baby, Linus and David's other two boys, Zevin and Dexter. The organically farmed 3-acre vineyard and farmhouse near downtown Los Olivos is called "deLanda", (a combination of their first and last names). DeLanda is becoming a home for Anna and David's Austrian grape varietals, Grüner Veltliner and Blaufränkisch as well as great California Syrah. They look forward to sharing their experience with family, friends and all who enjoy interesting wine!

How it happened was pure serendipity but in 2012, Anna and David deLaski started Solminer Wine to fulfill a dream - to create well-balanced California wine from their local, organically farmed vineyard and express and share their love for Austrian varietals...and for each other. David wanted to shift his experience as a tastemaker in the DJ/electronic music scene after running a boutique record label in Los Angeles for over a decade and focus on creating a boutique wine label. He enjoys wine and music as creative and artistic sense oriented pursuits and is passionately obsessed with both. The micro-production wines are organic and definitely pushing the cutting edge the movement toward lower alcohol, purer wines.

Where are the ratings?

Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself.
