This is a crisp and refreshing, unoaked California Chardonnay with purity of fruit and lively acid. Medium-bodied and lower in alcohol than some other California Chardonnays, this wine has intense flavors, but doesn't have that butter and oakiness that turns many drinkers off. Ty Caton returned to his hometown of Sonoma in 1997 determined to turn his family's 108 acre ranch, located in the prestigious Moon Mountain District AVA, into a prime vineyard. Today, 40 of the 108 acres are planted to wine grapes, and they produce about 10,000 cases of critically acclaimed wine per year. These special wines truly express the quality of the fruit grown on their land high in the Mayacamas Mountains.
