Winestyr Review

Syrah loves judicious use of whole cluster and that's what we have here. Notes of smoked meat, curing spices, paprika, leather, and lush blackberry. Just about 14% of the wine saw new oak, rounding out the voluptuous finish with a hint of vanilla and clove. Just an enveloping texture to the wine that lingers for minutes.

What We Love

  • High elevation
  • Sourced from the heart of this single vineyard

Hard to blame you for drinking now but patience will be rewarded

Experience

Alder Springs Vineyard is known for producing exceptional fruit, specifically focusing on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Rhone red and white varietals. Arnot-Roberts, Pax, Kale Wines, Copain, Relic, Sojourn, Bedrock Wine Co, and Dirty & Rowdy are among the notable producers who purchase fruit from Alder Springs Vineyard which vouches for the quality of fruit being grown on Alder Springs' 6,000 acre ranch (only about 140 acres are planted) in Northern Mendocino, just 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean and ranging from 1,700 to 2,700 feet of elevation. We've gotten access to some very special allocations of their wines and are excited to make them available to you through Winestyr.

Where are the ratings?

Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself. Need some specific recommendations? Chat us in the lower right box or send our lead curator an email at bob@winestyr.com.
