Sourced from Smith Family Vineyards in the northern end of Antelope Valley, this is high elevation Malbec at its finest. The daytime heat and cool, breezy nights allow for ideal maturation of small, tight berry clusters. Blended with a touch of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon before being aged in about 75% new French oak for 22 months, this is a powerhouse of a wine that delivers concentrated and pure cassis, huckleberry, and baking spice notes right across the palate. Decant or open for at least 30 minutes!
Byron Blatty Wines is a love letter to Los Angeles County, both new and old, where vines used to line the banks of the LA River in the late 1800s. Prohibition and vine disease wiped out most of those plantings but thanks to producers like Byron Blatty Wines that others who champion the region, small family-owned vineyards are making a comeback. Byron Blatty focuses on limited-edition, handcrafted red wines that feature sustainably farmed, family-owned vineyards in Los Angeles County.
