Colcanyon continues to blow us away with micro-production wines from their 2 estate acres. This Merlot has loads of fruit, earth, pepper and spice, but it's dry and clean with lots of complexity. Terroir-driven from the Malibu Coast AVA, it is probably unlike anything you've tried - in a really good way. One customer called it "the best Merlot I've ever had." 144 cases produced.
Colcanyon Estate Wines were amongst the early entrants in the up and coming Santa Monica Mountain wineries. Located 2000 feet above Malibu, the vineyard is situated on a south facing slope with uninterrupted views of the Pacific Ocean. The location is as near to perfect for grape growing as it gets. Colcanyon enjoys a rocky topsoil and a 45 degree south facing slope – the end result are vines that are optimally positioned for even sun exposure throughout the growing period.
