With the 2005 purchase of their first estate vineyard, Coquerel Family Wine Estates began producing exceptional Napa Valley red and white wines under the guiding hand of winemaker Christine Barbe, who earned her Ph.D in 1996 from the Bordeaux Institute of Enology. The winery is located just beyond the town of Calistoga at the north end of the Napa Valley and the heart and soul of Coquerel Wines is their estate “Walnut Wash” vineyard, a gorgeous, oak-studded property that sits in the afternoon shadows of the Mayacamas Mountains. Pure, crisp whites and powerful, yet sophisticated, reds have become their hallmark; a true melding of Napa Valley intensity and French elegance.
Under the guidance of winemaker Christine Barbe, Coquerel’s vineyard is intensely farmed for low yields and high quality. The unique conditions and favorable terroir produces exceptional fruit each vintage. All bottlings are handmade in small lots to ensure character and authenticity. Coquerel’s whites are bright, crisp, elegant and well structured while their reds are intense, aromatic, harmonious and lush. Complexity, concentration, balance and minerality are the hallmarks of Coquerel’s wines.
