Winestyr Review

It isn't just the unique blend--90% Tempranillo, 5% Graciano, 5% Pinot Noir--that sets this apart from Enfield's Shake Ridge Ranch Tempranillo. John Lockwood makes his Pretty Horses to be a fresher, more instantly accessible representation of this Spanish varietal. While Shake Ridge Ranch is still used as a vineyard source, that little bit of Pinot Noir comes from Heron Lake Vineyard in Wild Horse Valley AVA. Yeehaw!

Enfield Wine Co.

Lockwood’s journey took him from a guitar repair shop to a relatively remote vineyard in eastern Napa before he landed with Ehren Jordan at the venerable Failla Wines. It was through his work there, managing crucial vineyard relationships throughout Northern California, that he decided to start Enfield Wine Co. as a small side project. By 2013, he was ready to commit full-time to the brand and we’re all luckier for it. His wines are consistently praised by critics, sommeliers, and enthusiasts alike for being incredibly fresh yet not lacking any seriousness whatsoever. In the end, Enfield showcases wines capable of drinking today, tomorrow, and for many years to come.

Purple in the glass with deep garnet on the edges. The pinot noir and graziano cut wonderfully through on the spicy tempranillo. Cherry, leather and pepper come through with a strong tannins on the back end.

Great once aerated, heavy

Lighter than I typically go for but could be nice on a hot summer day... I drank in the winter.
