There are two distinct personalities to this wine. The first is a slightly reductive, flinty and mineral, palate with a zesty mouthfeel. The second is more bombastic, tropical fruited and juicy with crème fraîche and chive on the finish. Drink it on its own or with food, there is real pleasure to be had no matter the pairing.
Lockwood’s journey took him from a guitar repair shop to a relatively remote vineyard in eastern Napa before he landed with Ehren Jordan at the venerable Failla Wines. It was through his work there, managing crucial vineyard relationships throughout Northern California, that he decided to start Enfield Wine Co. as a small side project. By 2013, he was ready to commit full-time to the brand and we’re all luckier for it. His wines are consistently praised by critics, sommeliers, and enthusiasts alike for being incredibly fresh yet not lacking any seriousness whatsoever. In the end, Enfield showcases wines capable of drinking today, tomorrow, and for many years to come.
