This is a brand new wine from John Lockwood and it's one of the most compelling Cabernet Sauvignon examples we've tried all year. Fashioned after Cabernets of yonder days, when the grape could be rich and expressive without clocking in above 14% alcohol by volume, this wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered to give you a clear picture of the terroir at work here.
Lockwood’s journey took him from a guitar repair shop to a relatively remote vineyard in eastern Napa before he landed with Ehren Jordan at the venerable Failla Wines. It was through his work there, managing crucial vineyard relationships throughout Northern California, that he decided to start Enfield Wine Co. as a small side project. By 2013, he was ready to commit full-time to the brand and we’re all luckier for it. His wines are consistently praised by critics, sommeliers, and enthusiasts alike for being incredibly fresh yet not lacking any seriousness whatsoever. In the end, Enfield showcases wines capable of drinking today, tomorrow, and for many years to come.
