The Enfield Wine Co. 2019 Pretty Horses continues to evolve each vintage as John Lockwood tinkers with the blend to create a spicy, savory, and fresh take on classic Spanish grape varieties. Compared to his single vineyard Tempranillo, Pretty Horses to be a fresher, more instantly accessible representation.
Lockwood’s journey took him from a guitar repair shop to a relatively remote vineyard in eastern Napa before he landed with Ehren Jordan at the venerable Failla Wines. It was through his work there, managing crucial vineyard relationships throughout Northern California, that he decided to start Enfield Wine Co. as a small side project. By 2013, he was ready to commit full-time to the brand and we’re all luckier for it. His wines are consistently praised by critics, sommeliers, and enthusiasts alike for being incredibly fresh yet not lacking any seriousness whatsoever. In the end, Enfield showcases wines capable of drinking today, tomorrow, and for many years to come.
