We have long suspected that Mourvedre would take on a more prominent role in California and this wine shows why Lake County is the perfect home. The wine is classically savory and rustic but is incredibly approachable. Drink this with a burger, with a bounty of wild game, or just with itself on the couch as the night winds down.
The Fores are an awesome family who live in Napa and literally have a vineyard in their backyard which is patrolled by their two labs (who are also awesome). As one of our first winery clients, we've had a chance to get to know the family pretty well and they are some of the nicest people we've ever come across. Eric Fore, son of the proprietors did most of the bottle shots you can find on our site. Their wines are tremendous - they have a gem of a vineyard in the Red Hills Lake County AVA and many Winestyr customers swear by their Cabernet Sauvignon.
Fore Family's Lake County Cobb Mountain vineyard is a true mountain top vineyard, surrounded by big timber, Ponderosa Pine, Firs and Black Oaks. The loose, rocky, red hills volcanic soil is extremely well drained and when you combine this terroir with Lake County's tremendous sun and Cobb Mountain’s cool evenings it gives them the perfect opportunity to produce premium wine grapes. Fore Family Vineyards has a goal of limiting production and continuing with their low yield program so that they can produce a high-quality wine for you to enjoy for years to come.More from this winery
Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself. This a great meaty and smooth wine that would pair great with a game meat as they recommend or a great piece of steak. I would not call this a sit and enjoy on the couch wine. It is a little to heavy for a cozy couch moment but paired well, and it is a solid wine to enjoy.
