We have long suspected that Mourvedre would take on a more prominent role in California and this wine shows why Lake County is the perfect home. The wine is classically savory and rustic but is incredibly approachable. Drink this with a burger, with a bounty of wild game, or just with itself on the couch as the night winds down.
The best part about the wine business, aside from the incredible wines themselves, is meeting all of the amazing people behind the wines. Jim and Diane farm their 17-acre vineyard on Cobb Mountain near Clear Lake, fulfilling the dream that started after Jim’s shipyard was closed down in the mid-1990s. This family operation has captured the hearts of Winestyr members vintage after vintage and if you have the chance, you should absolutely visit their new tasting room in Kelseyville.
