Dark inky purple in the glass, this wine has many of the hallmarks of the classic Rhone blend of Grencache, Syrah, and Mourvedre, but is uniquely Californian in style. Notes of dark chocolate, wild blackberry, black pepper, bacon fat, and black olive dominate the palate of this medium bodied red wine. Bright acidity and firm tannins make this a quaffable wine that you can enjoy with a variety of foods.
The best part about the wine business, aside from the incredible wines themselves, is meeting all of the amazing people behind the wines. Jim and Diane farm their 17-acre vineyard on Cobb Mountain near Clear Lake, fulfilling the dream that started after Jim’s shipyard was closed down in the mid-1990s. This family operation has captured the hearts of Winestyr members vintage after vintage and if you have the chance, you should absolutely visit their new tasting room in Kelseyville.
