This is one of the most polished Pinot Noirs I've tasted in 2015. Aged 11 months in 25% new French oak, and racked only once prior to bottling, this wine packs a smooth, powerful punch in a sleek, sexy package. Bright acid, and layer upon layer of dark fruit give way to beautiful minerality and earthiness on the finish.
Friedeman Wines is a micro-producer of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
I was introduced to Brooks & Jessica Friedeman by a neighbor in the Chicago suburb in which I live. Originally from the Chicago area themselves, the Friedemans' story behind their foray into winemaking epitomizes those we had in mind when we started Winestyr. Their first production, only 200 cases a handful of years ago, took place more or less out of a garage, and was so well received that it sold out to local residents before it could even be introduced to the outside public. They've since produced several more vintages, each a slightly larger production than the last (though still very small productions), and have continued to grow their craft business organically. We absolutely love their wines and have enjoyed getting to know the Friedemans as well. This is the winery you want to hear about on a trip to wine country - the one only the locals know about and love because of its great product and fantastic people.More from this winery
Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself.
