This is a complex (in a good way) Sauvignon Blanc from Joullian in the Carmel Valley. This wine is aged on the lees (dead yeast), which gives it a creamy, full-bodied feel in the mouth. Definitely one to try if you're in a rut drinking the same things over and over!
In 1982 the Joullian and Sias families purchased 655 acres of hillside benchland in the heart of the remote Carmel Valley and started their vineyard. The families had the goal of producing estate-crafted wines with the complexity, finesse, and ageability of the world's finest wines. Completed in the spring of 1991, the winery was designed to handle each vineyard block separately to insure that the complex subtleties produced in the field could be transferred into the bottle. This has enabled Joullian to produce high quality, affordable wines ever since.More from this winery
Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself.
