St. Louis native Anthony Yount, proprietor and winemaker at Kinero Cellars, got his start in winemaking by way of an internship during his undergraduate studies at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. He became enamored with red and white Grenache and now serves as the winemaker for Denner Vineyards while also making small quantities of exceptional white wines under his own Kinero Cellars label. The wines are pure, fresh, and expressive and have earned him wide critical acclaim including landing on Jon Bonné's list of top 100 wines of the year.
It’s rare to find wineries devoted exclusively to white wine in California, but particularly in San Luis Obispo. Situated right in the heart of the Central Coast with Pinot Noir country to the south and Rhone red country to the north, Yount has truly carved out a unique position by concentrating on single vineyard expressions of Grenache Blanc, Chardonnay, and the like.
