Winestyr Review

This is an extremely enjoyable Rhone-style white blend from Kivelstadt Cellars. The previous vintage was one of our most popular white wines and this vintage is more of the same. Bright fruit flavors and a crisp and refreshing finish make this wine a crowdpleaser, but its complexity and depth make it a true stunner and a great value at this price point. Pair with roasted chicken or white sauce pasta dishes. 50% Marsanne, 50% Roussanne. 330 cases produced.

What We Love

  • Classic Hermitage-style white blend
  • Complex and refreshing

This is one of our favorite white wines due to its approachable style and complexity that over-delivers at this price point.

As Founder and Head Winemaker at Kivelstadt Cellars, Jordan Kivelstadt seeks to create wines that stand out. His passion for food and wine permeates everything he does. By day he is the Founder and CEO of Free Flow Wines, a wine on tap company focused on improving the quality and sustainability of the wine we drink in restaurants. He initially cut his teeth in wine working harvests in California, Argentina, Chile and Australia. Kivelstadt Cellars is Jordan's creative outlet and brings balance to his daily responsibilities at Free Flow. He pours all of those experiences into innovating in the wine industry and improving the wines at Kivelstadt Cellars vintage after vintage.

After leaving a career in consulting in his early twenties, Founder and Winemaker Jordan Kivelstadt traveled the world making wine in California, Australia, Chile, and Argentina. In 2007, Jordan made 125 cases of Estate Syrah. He drew inspiration both from his winemaking experiences in the new world and his family’s passion for European cuisine, art, and wine culture. Jordan has focused on exploring the product of incredible California vineyards, with a nod toward the rich history and balance of the old world wines. Production has grown to 3,500 cases annually and the Kivelstadt Cellars wines are featured on wine lists at some of the best restaurants in the country.

Where are the ratings?

Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself. Need some specific recommendations? Chat us in the lower right box or send our lead curator an email at bob@winestyr.com.
