This is a beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon from the Sonoma Mountain AVA. The 2013 vintage was phenomenal and previous vintages of this wine scored many 93+ scores from top critics. This is potentially my favorite vintage of this wine I've tasted. Dusty tannins, bright fruit, and great balance and complexity make this a wine you'll just want more and more of until the bottle is gone. Aged for 16 months in 40% new French and American oak. 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot. 2,128 cases produced.
Planted high up on Sonoma Mountain, Laurel Glen Vineyard is one of California's truly iconic sites for world-class Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate was overseen by Patrick Campbell for 30 vintages before, in 2011, the torch was passed to Bettina Sichel and her team. Aside from its flagship Cabernet Sauvignon, the Counterpoint bottling provides an excellent and accessible view of Laurel Glen Vineyard's powerful nature blended with elegant and supple Merlot from Pickberry Vineyard.
