Aged for 15 months in 30% new French oak, this wine is for those serious about their Chardonnay. What impressed us the most is that everything here is in balance, the oak well integrated with the fruit and mineral tones creating an almost Burgundian-like tension in the wine. This shows off the incredible potential of the grape in Oregon's Willamette Valley.
Eric Lemelson started Lemelson Vineyards with the long view in mind, first planting vines in 1995 before investing in another 30 acres just two years later. With the release of the estate's inaugural vintage in 2001, Lemelson announced its arrival to the masses. The winery sits just a few minutes east of Carlton, the kind of sleepy wine country town that makes all of us consider packing up our lives and starting over there.
