This robust California red blend is built around a base of Grenache, along with small amounts of Mourvedre, Cinsault, Counoise, and Syrah. It is aged on the lees in neutral French oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered, and is all about ripeness and texture. Balacing a velvety moutfeel with plenty of acidity and dark fruit, Cease & Desist will make you want to do nothing of the sort. 250 cases produced.
When Brooke Hester of Lightning Wines reached out to see what Winestyr was all about, we could instantly tell that this was a winery we needed to know more about. She spoke with confidence and passion about the Rhone-style wines that her husband, Randy, produces. Sure enough, after tasting a lineup of Lightening's wines, we were blown away. These are the exact type of small-production, interesting wines that Winestyr stands for. Not to mention, we're big fans of their label and brand.
Lightning Wines is led by the husband and wife duo, Randy and Brooke Hester. This young couple has over a decade of winemaking and wine business experience with world renowned wineries in Napa Valley and Sonoma, but Randy and Brooke are now making their own wines, and they're some of the most interesting Rhone-inspired wines we've tasted. Their incredible fruit sources are spread throughout Northern California and are tended to by some of the industry’s best growers. Made from the heart, Lightning Wines was born of pure passion and an ambitious dream – make wines as exciting to talk about as they are delicious to drink. You'll have to taste these wines for yourself to see why they're regularly included on The Girl & The Fig's wine list - a Sonoma staple whose wine list consists of America's best small-production, Rhone-style wines.More from this winery
Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself.
