This wine was made with grapes grown on incredibly old vines, with the Carignan being planted in 1948 and the Zinfandel planted in 1960. The wine is such an enjoyable blend of ripe, rich fruits and that textbook savory, floral note from the Carignan. Somehow these grapes, from warm climates, still have a beautiful fragrance. This is an exceptional minimally intervened "natural" wine that's great for al fresco sipping during spring, summer, and fall. 1,540 cases produced.
After studying agricultural systems and Italian in college, Martha ventured across the pond to Italy where she spent much of her time in vineyards. From there, it was only a matter of time until her agrarian itch was scratched as much by viticulture as olive orchards and bee farms. She apprenticed across the world, including stops with the likes of Chris Brockway and Giusto Occhipinti. These mentors helped shape her approach but in the end, Martha has carved out her own path crafting natural wines of immense pleasure and provenance.
