Sourced from vineyards in Napa and Yolo County, Matthiasson has once again crafted a singular and tremendously expressive rosé. The blend of Syrah, Grenache, Mouvèdre, and Counoise gives the wine a savory character that runs through the entire finish, making this a particularly food friendly expression. But, who are we kidding, it's delicious on its own and dangerously drinkable!
Matthiasson is a small, family owned producer of stunning wines known for pioneering the low-intervention winemaking approach in Napa Valley.
Steve Matthiasson, who got his start as a heralded vineyard manager, and his wife, Jill Klein Matthiasson, an ivy league educated botanist, have become a formidable duo in the world winemaking. The critical acclaim for their approach to farming, as well as their winemaking, and wines, seems to have no bounds. The list is too long to include here, but some of the highlights include recognition from the James Beard Foundation and winemaker of the year honors from California wine guru Jon Bonné of the San Francisco Chronicle. We are proud to have them in our portfolio.More from this winery
Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself.
