This is a great collection of wines from McGah Family Cellars, an excellent small producer located in the Rutherford section of Napa Valley. McGah makes delicious wines, and these two are no exception. The Sauvignon Blanc is crisp with good acid, but also gets a bit of time in oak and a bit of time on the lees (dead yeast) so it is more complex than a "typical" Sauv Blanc - definitely one to try if you're normally a Chardonnay lover. And the Cabernet is the quintessential well-made big Napa Cab - deep fruit, luscious tannins, and a very long finish. Definitely very drinkable even though it's only a few years old, especially if paired with a nice bone-in ribeye!
McGah Family Cellars is a family passion. Their vision is to create wines that are elegant in structure and balance, and consistent in quality vintage after vintage. Their vineyard estates are located in Rutherford, an appellation widely considered to be one of the premier sources of Napa Valley fruit. If you like Napa Cabs, you need to try McGah's Scarlett Cabernet Sauvignon - and their Sauv Blanc is the perfect wine for a warm summer day.More from this winery
Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself.
