Medlock Ames

Micro-production lots for more than 20 years

Chris Medlock James and Ames Morison, college best friends who left the hustle of New York City for the rolling hills of eastern Sonoma County, knew what they wanted from the beginning. Driving around Chalk Hill Road, their vision was realized at Bell Mountain Ranch. Ames is the winemaking force here, reaching for hillside Cabernet Sauvignon (and other Bordeaux varieties) that exude power without excess. These are delicious wines that can be enjoyed young or with a few years of bottle age on them!

Organic farming on Bell Mountain

Sustainability in land and community at the forefront

Not only has their Bell Mountain Ranch been organically farmed from the beginning, but the winery takes their belief in sustainability and applies it to everything they do. The winery and tasting room are both solar powered via panels built throughout the property. As a way to avoid using even organic fertilizers, they have created a true ecosystem via their estate olive trees, local wildlife, and self-made compost to promote such incorporative farming. Here, it is all about balance.
