While there is a growing movement in Napa to craft wines speaking to Napa's historic, traditional styles, contemporary Bordeaux blends of a more opulent persuasion still places in our hearts. This is a wine for those who love big, bold red wines laden with decadent spice, dark chocolate, cassis, and cigar box. That doesn't mean it lacks refinement of course, there's plenty.
A Napa Valley mainstay, Monticello Vineyards is proud to be family owned and operated. The winery is now managed by its second generation of Corleys, sons Kevin, Chris, and Stephen. Their overriding philosophy is that great wines are made in the vineyards. While much of Napa Valley has gone the way of luxury brands promoting some sort of lifestyle over the substance of their wines, Monticello remains steadfast in the exact opposite mindset. Here it is about the vineyards and wine, that’s it.
