Paix Sur Terre, French for "Peace on Earth," has quickly become one of Paso Robles’ most sought after and critically acclaimed wineries. They focus on balanced, mineral-driven wines made in small lots with fruit from some of the region’s best vineyards. Attention first went to their single vineyard Mourvedre wines but Ryan has shown that Paso can indeed produce world class white wines from grapes like Picpoul and Clairette Blanche.
Despite Paso Robles being known for regional blends as opposed to single vineyard–or even single block!–wines, Paix Sur Terre is changing that every year. Perhaps their most recognized and prized site is Denner Vineyard in the Willow Creek District sub-appellation. Somehow the wines maintain the power and concentration we’ve come to expect but without lacking any sort of elegance. Just brilliant, all the way around.
