The bright and balanced Grenache leads to this classic Southern Rhone, this wine smells of white pepper, black currant, and raspberry. Being Grenache dominant, bright red fruits with rhubarb and cranberry prevail on the mid-palate., following through to anise and pepper in a long, smooth finish.
"The whole point of Rotie Cellars is to make traditional Rhone Blends with Washington State fruit. So what do traditional Rhone blends mean to me? To start with, they mean lower alcohol, less ripe, less oak, balanced, finesse driven, mouth coating wines." - Sean Boyd, Proprietor
Rotie Cellars was born out of a desire to pay homage to the wines of the France's Rhône Valley. Since 2007, winemaker and owner Sean Boyd's goal has been to make traditional Rhône blends in Washington State. Boyd's winemaking philosophy is simple - combine old world winemaking techniques with the highest quality Rhône varietals that Washington has to offer. Boyd sources from some of the best and oldest vineyards in the state in an effort to showcase the most elegant blend possible, while ensuring the typicity of the fruit is expressed. Rotie's program is small and focused, and production limited. Each lot is individually attended to, allowing for an uncompromising approach to quality and the results so far have been exceptional with too many accolades to list. Rotie Cellars is one of the first Washington producers on the Winestyr platform and we're proud to offer their wines to you.More from this winery
Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself.
