The vines' 47th vintage and Sandhi's 10th vintage. With each year there is a renewed appreciation and reverence for this pioneering site, first planted in 1971. Without Sanford & Benedict, there may not be a Sta. Rita Hills AVA. The 2018 Sanford & Benedict Chardonnay leads with an inviting nose of lemon confit over fresh floral aromas of chamomile and a whisper of crushed rock. The palate is delineated and focused, with good persistence towards a lengthy finish. 95pts Vinous.
Sandhi is a small production California winery focusing on select vineyards from the Sta. Rita Hills in Santa Barbara County. The partnership of Raj and Sashi has continuously championed the unions essential to the production of wine: the collaboration between man, earth, and vine. The willing participation of all three elements is necessary to make great wine, and the winegrower must make this collaboration rich and nourishing for all involved. An understanding of these joint efforts informs Sandhi’s exploration of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines throughout the Santa Barbara County terroir.
