This Zinfandel is refreshingly different in its approach. More old world in style (as shown on the back label), this Zinfandel is lighter, more nuanced, and has more finesse than almost every California Zin I've tasted. What's more, this wine has balance and elegance and is very smooth and easy drinking (in a good way) with just the right amount of acid on the finish. I really like this wine for as an evening sipper - with or without food.
Scott Harvey is one of Amador County's pioneers and has been producing incredibly drinkable expressions of Barbera, Syrah, and Zinfandel under his label Scott Harvey Wines. Before that, he was a partner, winemaker, and president of Napa's Folie A Deux winery where he created the Menage a Trois line of wines. Scott splits his time between his home and vineyard in Napa Valley and Amador County where he works with some of the oldest growers. These are wines that go perfectly with a variety of foods - specifically grilled meats.
