Husband and wife duo Scott MacFiggen and Regina Bustamante founded Sosie (French for twin or spitting image) on the idea that their love and passion for the great wines of France could inspire similarly fashioned wines here in their home, Northern California. While the winery does produce Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, it is immediately obvious that its strength lies in grape varieties that call France's Rhône Valley home, notably Syrah and Roussanne. We’re excited to be in on the ground floor and offer these wines to you.
Perhaps Syrah is one of their strengths due to Sosie's excellent vineyard source in Bennett Valley, Vivio Vineyard. After all, this tucked away appellation between Santa Rosa and Glen Ellen is an ideal climate for balanced Rhone grapes. Or maybe it's due to the fact that winemaker Kieran Robinson is known for his touch with grapes like Syrah, Viognier, and Roussanne. Either way, the wines balance richness and elegance very well and are drinking delightfully right now.
