Winestyr Review

Sourced from a single vineyard of organic, old vine Cabernet Sauvignon that barely had high enough yields for the owner to succeed in selling the grapes. The wine is incredibly fresh, high toned, and features a lovely backbone of texture and acidity.

What We Love

  • Single vineyard
  • Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Very old vines

This single vineyard rosé requires no pretense, only eager glasses

Experience

Rande is a journeyman in wine, having worked as a grape grower, winemaker and cellar master. Aaron was a jaded banker who left his finance life in Chicago for the 2017 harvest and never looked back. With connections to legendary vineyard sources Rande and Aaron wanted to pay homage to the rich grape growing and winemaking history while showcasing the bright future of Sonoma Valley.

Winery

Two Chicago natives met serendipitously during the 2017 wine harvest in Sonoma. While they both have day jobs (Rande in Vineyard Management, Aaron in Finance/Business Planning) their desire was to create a new, unique wine label to bring their love of Sonoma wines back to their hometown of Chicago.

Their legacy goes beyond their delicious wine though, as they now lease vineyards with old vines and convert them from traditional farming to organic.

Where are the ratings?

Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself. Need some specific recommendations? Chat us in the lower right box or send our lead curator an email at bob@winestyr.com.
