This red blend, composed of Aglianico, Montepulciano, and Barbera, was styled after the delicious, food-friendly bistro wines of Italy and France. Made by critically acclaimed winemaker, Steve Matthiasson, this wine is light, fresh, and balanced with mouthwatering acidity and great structure. Fruity and refreshing, though not sweet, this red blend is the perfect wine to sip on with hors d'oeuvres while outside on a sunny day out sailing or at the beach. Fermented in stainless steel barrels and aged in neutral oak, this wine is best enjoyed slightly (or even moderately) chilled. The crown cap and 1L format bottle are a reminder that this wine is meant to be enjoyed in its youth, but don't let that fool you. This is a high quality red made by an expert winemaker, at a great value. Don't forget the bottle opener! 1,500 cases produced.
Tendu is a project from Jill and Steve Matthiasson aimed at producing taut, approachable, and balanced table wines with great structure in a lighter, fresher style. The wines are meant to be enjoyed in their youth and represent an excellent value.
Tendu is the second label from Jill and Steve Matthiasson who are better known for their pure, balanced wines from vineyards in Sonoma and Napa. Steve was awarded the SF Chronicle's "Winemaker of the Year" award and has been nominated for multiple James Beard awards for his work in wine. Their Tendu line represents some of the best values we've come across for honest, small-production wines. Lower alcohol, with great structure and balance, the Tendu line is reminiscent of the great table wines of France and Italy that are meant to be consumed in their youth. The word tendu refers to tension or poise and these wines are just that; racy and full of energy. We suggest you load up on these wines as they're perfect "house" styles.More from this winery
Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself.
