Inspired by the deliciously approachable table wines of Italy, master winemaker Steve Matthiasson crafted this wine in the same lower alcohol style to be enjoyed in its youth. This blend is dominated by Barbera, but also includes Aglianico, Montepulciano, and others. The resulting wine will blow you away with how drinkable it is. I recommend to drink slightly chilled poolside or with an al fresco lunch, just how the Italians would.
Tendu is the second label from Jill and Steve Matthiasson who are better known for their pure, balanced wines from vineyards in Sonoma and Napa. Steve was awarded the SF Chronicle's "Winemaker of the Year" award and has been nominated for multiple James Beard awards for his work in wine. Their Tendu line represents some of the best values we've come across for honest, small-production wines. Lower alcohol, with great structure and balance, the Tendu line is reminiscent of the great table wines of France and Italy that are meant to be consumed in their youth. The word tendu refers to tension or poise and these wines are just that; racy and full of energy. We suggest you load up on these wines as they're perfect "house" styles.
