This skin-fermented Chardonnay (orange wine) from former-sommelier, Matt Ahern, is an extremely unique and enjoyable expression of Chardonnay from Sonoma County. Crisp, rich, and fruit forward with notes pineapple, honey, and green apple, this wine has a unique texture due to the fact that tannins are subtly present which is very rare for a Chardonnay (and due to the skin contact this wine saw during fermentation). Native yeast fermentation in concrete - on skins for 90 days. Only 200 cases produced.
Former-Sommelier Matt Ahern is making affordable, approachable wines under his Wonderland Project label.
The Wonderland Project was founded by former-Sommelier Matt Ahern after spending years selling wine to elite restaurants. Through his experience, he became aware of a common missing component on wine lists: a high quality wine made from high quality fruit, with enough refinement for the most discerning palette at an accessible cost. When he couldn't find the wine described, he decided to make it himself.More from this winery
Are the wines any good? Yes, they are and we taste every wine that is considered for our site. We seek out the best wines from the best small-producers in the U.S. and Winestyr is a collection of our favorites. Most of the wines have impressive accolades, however, don't look for "expert" ratings here - we think it's more important to buy wines you find interesting and to decide for yourself. Smooth, easy to drink
Crisp and light, tasted like a chardonnay without the buttery after-taste. Brought to Thanksgiving dinner this year & it was enjoyed by all!
