Producer Thumbprint Cellars

Varietal Pinot Noir

Vintage 2012

Winestyr Review

This Pinot from the Marcucci Ranch Vineyard in the Russian River Valley is unfined, unfiltered and so pure that it's vegan. This Pinot, like most of Thumbprint's Pinots, are big, bold, and spicy with quite a bit of well-integrated oak. This particular Pinot spent time in American and French oak barrels. The winemaker's personal favorites are big Bordeaux style wines so that's how he makes his Pinot - and I love it. 200 cases produced.

Thumbprint Cellars

Thumbprint Cellars is one of the coolest places to visit in Sonoma County. Their tasting room is right on the square in downtown Healdsburg among some great restaurants and some other great tasting rooms. If you're there early in the day, make sure to grab a sandwich at Oakville Grocery (they're incredible). During the summer, Healdsburg also has music in the park on Tuesday nights so grab a few bottles from Thumbprint, some artisanal cheeses from Oakville Grocery, a blanket, and a couple of glasses - and go hang out and listen to some music. Definitely get there early if you want a good spot. If you're also in to beer (like we are), Bear Republic is a 2 block walk from Thumbprint which is a pretty stellar 1-2 punch.
