What started as a passion for home winemaking in an effort to recreate their love for the larger world of wine has blossomed into the second generation taking the reins. In 2010 Erica graduated from California State University Fresno with her degree in enology and set out on her journey in winemaking that took her to Argentina, Rudd Estate, and CrossBarn. She has directed winemaking at Trombetta since 2014 and is one of the real rising star winemakers in the industry.
Trombetta sources fruit from a handful of family-owned vineyards in Sonoma like Indindoli, Four Brothers, and Peterson, the latter of which actually defines their Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, proving the provenance of even their most humble bottlings. Of course, there is also Gap’s Crown, one of Sonoma’s grand cru status sites that consistently supplies wineries with critically acclaimed fruit vintage after vintage.
